What is a neocloud?
A neocloud is a GPU-centric cloud service purpose-built for AI workloads. Unlike hyperscale clouds that offer broad general-purpose computing, a neocloud concentrates on one thing: GPU compute.
Think of it this way: if a traditional cloud is a big-box store that carries everything, a neocloud is a specialty shop that sells only GPUs. Its core business is securing high-performance GPUs at scale and renting them out by the hour for AI training and inference.

Key neocloud players
CoreWeave has grown rapidly as a GPU-specialized cloud, and Lambda and Nebius also offer AI-focused GPU clouds. Backed by large GPU clusters and AI-friendly networking, they absorb GPU demand that hyperscalers couldn't fully serve.
The real edge is the operations layer
Simply securing a lot of GPUs doesn't guarantee profitability. Idle GPUs only rack up depreciation and power costs. Profitability comes down to four operational capabilities: utilization, multi-tenancy, billing, and operational automation.
